2018 AASE National Conference Graduate Scholarship

The Australian Association of Special Education (AASE) is offering eleven (11) scholarships of $500 each for graduate special education teachers and associated professionals to attend at the 2018 AASE National Conference to be held in Cairns, Queensland on the 9th and 10th July, 2018.  The scholarship will be used to supplement the Super Early Bird registration fees applicable to the Conference.

Applicants do not have to be AASE members and they do not need to be currently registered for the Conference to apply. The recipients of the scholarship will be acknowledged during the Conference and will be asked to complete a one-page post-conference reflection by Friday, 3rd August 2018.


Recipients must be in their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of teaching or practice in a government or independent educational setting in Australia, across one of the following professions:

  • Special education teacher.
  • Classroom teacher in a mainstream school serving students with special needs.
  • Occupational therapist, school psychologist or speech pathologist working in a special education or mainstream setting, and serving students with special needs.

Application Process

To apply, applicants must write a one-page (maximum 600 words) essay entitled, 'Why did you choose special education?'

Submissions must include:

  • Your full name and contact information
  • Your Occupation
  • Location of Work
  • Contact information of your School Principal
